Rules & Regulations
1. Organizer

All intellectual property related to the name, format, and materials of this competition belongs to the organizer. No part of this document may be reproduced without written permission.
2. Eligibility
This competition is open for everyone who meet the following criteria:
- Must be 18 years or older on the day of the competition.
- Open to all individuals regardless of nationality, gender, religion, or background.
Participation is only valid after completing the registration form and paying the participation fee.
3. Registration & Entry Fee
- Registration is done via the official competition form.
- Required information: full name, phone number, email address.
- Entry fee is non-refundable, except if written cancellation is received at least 10 days before the event.
Fee: 50 lei + TVA
Confirmation will be sent by email and WhatsApp to the contacts provided during registration.
4. Code of Conduct
All participants, judges, sponsors, and volunteers must agree to and uphold the following:
- The Latte Art Throwdown is a harassment-free event for everyone, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, religion, or technology choices.
- Sexual language or imagery is not appropriate during any aspect of the event.
- Participants violating these rules may be disqualified without refund, at the organizers’ discretion.
- Any form of attempted influence over judges (verbally or non-verbally) is strictly forbidden.
- Participants are expected to treat others with respect and fairness at all times.

5. Competition Format
Patterns
- Format: Single elimination bracket, 1 vs. 1 face-off.
- A random pattern wheel (“Pattern Wheel”) decides the design for each round.
- Each competitor has 3 minutes total on the machine.
- One espresso is provided for practice and one for the competition pour.
- Pour must be free-pour only – no etching or tools allowed.
- Winners move forward until the final round.
Final round: First competitor to win 3 pours is declared the winner.
6. Technical Rules
- Espresso shots are extracted by the organizers.
- Each participant receives one pitcher of milk and one chance to steam.
- Milk separation is allowed.
- Participants cannot bring their own coffee or milk.
- Cup size: 200 ml Rhino cupping bowl.
- The latte art must match the assigned pattern and be presented with the handle at “3 o’clock”.
7. Judging
The judging panel includes 3 independent judges.
Evaluation criteria:
- Symmetry & Balance: Consistent and harmonious elements, clean lines.
- Contrast & Definition: Strong contrast between milk foam and crema.
- Cup Fill & Layout: Good use of space, not overcrowded or incomplete.
- Overall Impression: Visual appeal, cleanliness of the cup, precision.
In freestyle rounds, judges will focus on complexity, harmony, and originality.
The judges vote simultaneously by pointing to the preferred cup. Majority wins.
8. Equipment & Materials Provided
The organizer provides:
- Espresso machine & grinder
- Knock box & cleaning station
- Alternative Milk, Oat drink
- Coffee (100% Arabica, full city roast)
- Cups (200ml Rhino)
- Pitchers (participants may use their own)
- Workstation with all necessary tools
9. On-Stage Rules
- Competitors must stay on stage during their round.
- No interaction with judges or the audience is allowed during the performance.
- No help or props are allowed from outside the competition area.
- Espresso shots are pulled by designated staff.
- Any attempt to influence judges will result in disqualification.
10. Technical Issues
If a technical problem occurs (e.g., grinder or machine malfunction), the competitor must raise their hand and request a technical timeout. The stage manager or technical jury will decide if the round can be repeated.
11. Clean-Up Responsibility
After each round, competitors must clean their workstation before leaving the stage.
12. Orientation Briefing
A mandatory competitor briefing will be held 1 hour before the start of the competition. Attendance is required. Event flow, rules, and judging protocols will be explained on-site.
13. Prizes
Cash prizes & products:
- 🥇 1st Place: 500 RON + trophy + products
- 🥈 2nd Place: 300 RON + products
- 🥉 3rd Place: 100 RON + products
- 4th Place: products
- 5th Place: products
- Other product-based prizes will be announced soon.
To receive the prize, winners must send their full name and bank details to the organizer in writing.
14. Media Consent
By registering for the competition, all participants agree that photos and videos will be taken during the event and may include their image, voice, or performance. These materials may be used by Libero Conferences SRL on social media, websites, or any other communication channels for the purpose of promoting the event or future editions.
No financial compensation will be provided for the use of such content. If a participant has concerns regarding this, they must notify the organizer in writing before the event at contact@transylvania.coffee.
15. Complaints or Feedback
All complaints or concerns must be submitted in maximum 24 hours after the finish of the competition in writing to:
